Starry Starry Night...

I just love this photo. All I know is that this is someplace in Nevada. Nice, no?
Look at all those stars... Quite dreamy.

Bhutan 6.1 earthquke

Magnatude 6.1 earthquake hit Bhutan today. I found this map on the USGS website showing all the earthquakes that have happened since 1990 (the little circles). The star icon is today's quake, quite a busy subduction zone.

Men, women, age and looks.

OK, I'm just putting this out there. A bunch of us got into a conversation at work today about "older men" (Sadly "older" is really not that much older as I am sliding helplessly and unstoppingly towards 40 at this very moment... But I digress.) So up of course came the topic of how men seem to become more handsome as they age, well, some do at least. And women are not always so fortunate. Of course there are always exceptions. So I have decided to illustrate what I mean, of course, me and all my pictures here. Without further ado; "Three men who have aged well in my opinion":

Sean Connery

Tim Curry

William Boyd

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of anyone else at the moment. Some day I'll have to do the same for ladies who have aged well, but for now here are the fellas..

Speaking of gardens...

Can you believe these sunflowers?! Some fellow in Germany got his to grow upwards of 24 feet tall... WOW! He is probably going to be in the Guinness Book for these tall blooms and this photo shows the mayor officiating the measuring. My sunflowers got to about 1 foot tall and bloomed small carnation size blooms and that was it. Bummer. I'd like to know this guys secret! Beer maybe? ;)

Gardening Tip

I tried to grow ducks this year in the garden but it didn't work.
They wouldn't sit still long enough to take root.

A word of kind advice

Here's something to think about the next time you're out at night driving with your sweetie: Check the back seat for Saucermen BEFORE you get in the car. And wear a sweater too, it might be too cold to go out topless...

Dreams of a little girl...

I found these photos on Ebay the other day and had to save them. I had forgotten how lovely Diana was back in 1981 when she posed for these portraits. I have been a fan of hers since I was 10 and I remember getting up at 3am to watch the 'wedding of the century' live on TV. What a day. To a young girl like me the thought of princeses and princes and castles and horsedrawn carriages was all quite amazing! Could these things really be true?! As we all know happily ever after isn't gauranteed to anyone even beautiful princesses, but what a lovely dream it was, no?

Would you buy a croc from this guy?

It's amazing what photos you can find out on the www.
I guess this fellow is the original 'croc hunter' then?
They look pretty daunting, he better take care as they might piddle on him.

The Critters Under the Porch...

I once heard that the best security system is a nosy neighbor.
What a great system we had this summer - four nosy neighbors watching us come and go and everything else going on around us...
Yes we fed them of course, just look at those eyes, how could we not?!

Do you see spots before your eyes?

Perhaps it's every girl's dream to own a horse, and ever since I was a wee one I wanted an equine buddy... Now that I'm older, sometimes I still dream of that 'perfect' horse and what it might look like. My dream would be to have an appaloosa. Not just any appaloosa but one that looked like it got caught in a paint factory explosion. As most my posts are profusely illustrated, this one just screams for pictorial examples. Enjoy the scenic spotted beauty of the Appaloosa Horse...

Gus Visser and His Singing Duck

Gus Visser and His Singing Duck singing "Ma, He's making Eyes at Me" from their Vaudville act. 1925, predating sound, go figure. A very cute song though!

Space ape spreads fear and terror with bubble machine!

Most people go out and spend their money on movies they love. I go out of my way to find the worst movies ever made. I think I have found it. This stinker is so bad, suffice to say the special affects included a bubble machine... And I write "special affects" because this movie will "affect" you alright. If a picture is worth a thousand words than here you have it, 1000 terrible words about a terrible movie. Oh I forgot - it's in 3-D too or as the movie poster claimed "Adventures into the future in NEW TRU-3 DIMENSION!" (While watching this, you will wish you could slip into another dimension.) It's terribleness tries to reach out and touch you as you try to figure out why you just wasted the last hour of your life watching a half gorilla, half old deep sea diver try to kill the last surviving family after the alien apocolypse. This goes beyond cheese. I'm not sure there's a word to describe how awful this film really is. So yes, it holds a prime spot in my DVD collection.
